Family Experience at Remuda Ranch
Psychiatric disorders never affect just one person – they have a profound impact on the entire family. That’s why at Remuda Ranch Programs for Eating and Anxiety Disorders, family involvement is an essential component of treatment.
Approximately halfway through treatment, each patient’s family joins her at the ranch. Other families will also be present, which provides an opportunity to share and learn from one another. Everyone quickly recognizes that they are not alone in their struggle; other families are experiencing similar issues and trials.
The following days are a time of learning for the various family members and a time of growth for all. Perhaps the most critical and pivotal time is the Truth In Love session, which is led by a family therapist. During this session, all participants are encouraged to be very honest about feelings, emotions, regrets, hurts, etc. The ultimate goal is total forgiveness, in order for the family to experience a fresh start for the challenges that may lie ahead.
